Jana grew up in a small town in Wyoming. Early on, she knew she wanted to be in healthcare. She started at a local community college gaining an Associate of Science degree. Next, she attended the University of Wyoming and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a minor in Psychology. Jana graduated at the top of her class and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Society of Nursing.

 

Upon graduation, she began working as a Registered Nurse for the University of Colorado Health (UCH) Memorial Hospital of Colorado Springs, a hospital that became a Level 1 Trauma Center. Jana spent nearly four years at UCH working in an orthopedic/trauma unit where she gained invaluable experience. Jana was a Charge Nurse and had the opportunity the precept new graduate nurses and new hire nurses.

 

Jana decided to further her nursing career and become a Nurse Practitioner. She was accepted into the University of Colorado.

 

Jana then moved back to Wyoming and worked at a surgical center with patients spanning infancy to geriatrics. During this time, she began work on her doctorate.  

 

Her husband was hired for a job in Texas where Jana returned to acute care as a Registered Nurse at the University of Texas Southwestern Hospital. She graduated with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Colorado. Jana is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. 

 

In her spare time, Jana loves to spend time with her husband, dog, family and friends. She loves to hike and explore new trails. She is also a Friends TV show fanatic, enjoys cooking and dancing.
