Dr. Schmidt grew up in the DFW area in a close-knit family of six, and she was homeschooled through high school. She has always had a passion for kids and babysitting. She began serving in the kids’ ministry at church at age 14.
Dr. Schmidt received her Bachelor in Nursing at Baylor University, receiving an award as the highest-ranking honor graduate. She started her nursing career at Children’s Health in Dallas, where she worked more than six years in the pediatric intensive care unit and the post-anesthesia care unit.

While at Children’s, Dr. Schmidt worked as a charge nurse and rapid response nurse. She also cared for children with special needs and a wide variety of surgical needs and critical illnesses. These experiences inspired her to achieve higher education to make a bigger impact on patients and families through preventive care. Dr. Schmidt is passionate about providing the education and support families need to make the best possible decisions for their children.
Dr. Schmidt received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Baylor University, specializing in pediatric primary care. She is board certified through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. She implemented her doctoral project at Natural Choice Pediatrics, adding an anxiety screening to the depression screening already in place. This screening helped identify adolescents experiencing anxiety.
Dr. Schmidt enjoys learning and staying up to date on the latest advancements in pediatric healthcare, and she has always appreciated holistic and patient-centered care. She believes in the power of cultivating an environment of trust and openness in the healthcare setting.
When Dr. Schmidt is not serving your precious kiddos, she enjoys serving within her church community, maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle, and spending time with her friends and family. She also enjoys serving her community and participating in medical service opportunities, including volunteering at a local crisis pregnancy center and volunteering with Mercy Ships in Madagascar to provide access to medical care for vulnerable populations.
